The biggest uncertainty here is the number of applications. The timeline has been drawn up on the basis of 2,000 applications. If there are fewer applications, everything will proceed more quickly. If there are more applications, there will be additional delays. Based on 2,000 applications, this is what we can expect in the coming period:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>30th of April 2026<\/strong> \u2013 the application window opens for 15 weeks<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>12th of August 2026<\/strong> \u2013 the application window closes<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>October 2026<\/strong> \u2013 ICANN publishes the preliminary list of all applications (\u201cReveal Day\u201d)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>November 2026<\/strong> \u2013 ICANN publishes the final list of all applications (\u201cString Confirmation Day\u201d); the community can provide input for 15 weeks<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>December 2026<\/strong> \u2013 ICANN defines the order of processing<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>June 2027<\/strong> \u2013 ICANN completes the first set of checks (\u201cString evaluation\u201d)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">From this moment onwards, applications will be processed in their assigned order. The lucky applicant at the start of the list can pencil the following dates in its agenda:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>September 2027<\/strong> \u2013 ICANN completes the second set of checks (\u201cApplicant and application evaluation\u201d)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>December 2027<\/strong> \u2013 The contract is signed<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>February 2028<\/strong> \u2013 The domain extension becomes available on the internet<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">ICANN commits to a capacity of 500 applications per year.
